Brain Injuries

Have you, or has someone you love, suffered traumatic head injury because of a work related injury? You should not say anything to the employer or the employer’s insurance company before talking to an experienced attorney. Contact the Injured Workers’ Law Firm to discuss what recovery you are entitled to.

What counts as a brain injury?

Brain injuries can be more difficult to identify than other injuries. People may not realize they have a brain injury, because their cognitive ability is distorted. Many times, you may not realize you are injured until the time to file a claim has passed. You must file a workers’ compensation claim within two years of the injury. Causes of such injuries include:

  • Falling off roofs
  • Getting hit by falling objects
  • Slipping off ladders
  • Falling on concrete floors

We can schedule your appointment with a neurologist to be tested. You may have suffered short or long-term memory loss. Other common injuries are a loss of coordination, hand-eye coordination, and equilibrium.

This type of injury can be difficult to diagnosis properly. You may be eligible for lifetime benefits if you cannot be gainfully employed again.

You need to meet with a qualified neurologist. They will test your brain for injuries; these tests may include:

  • CT scans
  • Language and communication
  • Attention and concentration
  • Memory
  • IQ tests
  • Motor skills
  • Verbal and nonverbal
  • Personality

We will obtain your medical records to determine whether you were treated properly by a doctor. Your ability to recover depends a lot on how you report your injury. For the best chance at full compensation, you should get the advice of a lawyer.

Call or e-mail today before waiting too long to file your claim. If you wait too long, your claim may be denied.
