Gerlie Kemmerling – Medical Record Specialist

Gerlie has been part of the Injured Workers Law Firm team for three years, working behind the scenes to help keep our clients’ medical records organized, accurate, and easy for the legal team to navigate. As a Medical Record Specialist, she prepares and maintains Master Medicals and disability slip indexes, helping our attorneys and paralegals quickly locate important medical information, identify missing records, and prepare documentation needed throughout a client’s case.

A nursing graduate with a strong healthcare background, Gerlie previously worked as an Escalations Supervisor for a U.S. health insurance company. Her experience in nursing, health insurance, and medical documentation gives her a unique understanding of just how important complete and accurate medical records can be.

While Gerlie doesn’t typically interact directly with clients, she takes great pride in knowing that her work contributes to their experience with IWLF. She especially loves seeing positive reviews from clients and knowing that the work happening behind the scenes helps our legal team advocate for injured workers.

Outside of work, Gerlie is a wife and mom who loves spending time with her family. Their weekends might include karaoke, traveling, discovering new places, or spending a day at the beach. She also has a huge heart for animals and regularly helps strays. Each year, she donates to animal shelters and organizations supporting children and women affected by abuse, often choosing to give anonymously.

Gerlie is also a self-proclaimed perfume collector with an ever-growing fragrance collection! Her favorite movie is Love, Rosie, which she admits she could happily watch over and over again.

One of her favorite reminders comes from 53 Rules for Life and Living: “Brisk walk. Don’t run. Chew food slowly. Life is not a contest.”

It’s a philosophy that suits Gerlie well: slow down, appreciate the journey, and remember there’s more to life than simply reaching the finish line.
