Lifting heavy objects the right way

There is a wrong way and a right way when lifting objects. Delivery companies or warehouses have workers that are an increased risk of lower back injuries. Even people who don’t spend a lot of time lifting heavy objects are prone to back injury if they do not do it the right way. Back injuries are due to people lifting heavy objects in an improper manner.
Lifting objects does not need to be dangerous. There are several reasons why people hurt their backs. Use the right muscles to lift up objects. Use the muscles in your legs and buttocks instead of the muscles in your back.
In lifting heavy objects, it is always important to bend your knees when lifting an object off the floor. This gives your spine a level foundation and avoids putting too much stress on your neck. Your spine needs a level foundation to avoid putting too much stress on it. It is also important to keep your body vertical while lifting heavy objects. If you do the otherwise- horizontal position, you will put a lot of stress on your lower back. The stress is often accompanied by pressure and this can result in a slipped disc or sprain. The other mistakes when lifting heavy objects is you need to lift it close to your body.
Be as close as possible when you are lifting an object. By doing so, the amount of pressure on your spine will be reduced. When holding an object, it is important to make sure that you keep the object no more than eight inches away from you. Also keep your upper body vertical and use the muscles in your legs and buttocks in order to lift the object. This lifting procedure reduces the strain on your back. Try to avoid twisting your upper body when lifting heavy objects, since this adds great pressure on your spine.
Another small but damaging mistake that you can do when lifting is to arch your back. Always use your legs and buttock muscles to lift the load. Arching your back can increase the risk of hurting your back.
There is a rule of thumb when carrying items around your house or office. Do not reach for items higher than your head when transporting an object. Use a ladder and make sure that the object is at your chest level. Expect pressure on your lower back if you do not follow this simple rule. Change your footing first if you need to turn when handling a heavy object. Do not twist your back; again use your lower trunk and legs.
One last thing, take note that when you bend and lift, your muscles become more tired. The more tired they become, the greater the risk of injury is possible. If you are going to have long day of lifting heavy objects, take frequent breaks to give your muscles more time to recover. If you don’t, chances are that you will wake up the next morning with lower back pain.
