My Employer Says He Doesn’t have Workers’ Compensation Insurance, and I Get Hurt at Work?

You can contact the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission to confirm whether your employer has workers’ compensation insurance.  If the employer does not have workers’ compensation insurance, the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission will take action against your employer.  He will be assessed penalties.  Additionally, there is the Uninsured Employer’s Fund, which would pay your benefits and then seek reimbursement from your employer. You have to look out for your best interest.
